Title: 4th of July at Townpoint Park
Description: Who wants to go?

Art1st4786 - June 23, 2008 12:48 AM (GMT)
I remember a bunch of us went to Mount Trashmore last year for 4th of July. This year, I was wondering if you guys were interested in getting a group together to go to Townpoint Park in downtown Norfolk this year to watch the fireworks and hang out?

Ecnelis - June 23, 2008 12:50 AM (GMT)
Sounds cool, Mount Trashmore always has a large problem with traffic afterwards, I hope it isn't as bad in downtown...although I can see it possibly being worse...

But yeah, it sounds like fun.

Art1st4786 - June 23, 2008 12:51 AM (GMT)
Holy crap, that response was quick... o_o

We'd have to get there early to get decent parking. And if we get bored during the day, we could walk through Waterside or the mall or somewhere else (wherever anyone wanted to go).

Lunao - June 23, 2008 12:54 AM (GMT)
I will be working all 3 days" 2nd, third, and fourth of July. Sorry I won't see you down there. I'll be enjoying Busch Gardens' fireworks display

Art1st4786 - June 23, 2008 12:56 AM (GMT)
That was quick, too....o__O

You'll be missed, buddy. Hope you have a good time, though!

SinRaeyan - June 23, 2008 04:59 AM (GMT)
I don't know yet. I have to see if I am working or if I have a campaign that night.

Bai Shen - June 25, 2008 04:12 PM (GMT)
I might show up. Not sure what my 4th plans are yet. Usually I would watch fireworks from the USCG base, but I don't have an id anymore. :(

As for traffic, would people be meeting at ODU or somesuch before and carpooling?

BTW, Sin, campaign?

SinRaeyan - June 25, 2008 08:58 PM (GMT)
I am a hardcore nerd I play D&D on weekends. Liz I should be able to make it but I am not sure where Townpoint park is. Are we going to have a carpool thingy? If so where? I suggest Webb Center. XD

Shiya - June 25, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
Town Point Park:

Whee. And the fourth is on a Friday, if that helps regarding your campaigns.

I have no idea what my plans are for the fourth, so I'll show up if I do or won't if I won't. XD

Art1st4786 - June 25, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
Being out and about today in the smoke made me realize that the air quality may or may not be okay on the 4th. Just in case it's too smoky outside, we probably need to think of an alternative plan. Anybody have any ideas?

We should also probably come up with a meeting time. As far as a meeting place, I think Webb would probably be our best bet, since everyone knows where that is.

SinRaeyan - June 25, 2008 10:36 PM (GMT)
As an alternative we could have a party at the apartment and have fireworks on TV. I have never been big into the fireworks. XD

Of course the apartment thing has to be approved by everyone... *cough* Liz.

Art1st4786 - June 25, 2008 10:40 PM (GMT)
That sounds fine by me, Katie :P Cook some food, have some drinks (for those of legal age *cough*), watch the fireworks on TV...sounds like a good alternative ^_^

Ecnelis - June 25, 2008 11:46 PM (GMT)
I recently got a job, but hopefully I'll be free the evening of the Fourth.

Keisuke - June 25, 2008 11:53 PM (GMT)
hmm 4th of July huh? sounds like it could be entertaining, I would like to be joining into these festivities if thats alright XD (so far my schedule is clear for that day so unless something drastic happens then that probably won't change)

I suppose a meeting time will be decided upon as the time draws closer?

fightingcomet - June 26, 2008 12:04 AM (GMT)
If the fam's not doing anything, I can show up. =D Meeting at Webb Center would be sweet. What time?

Traffic and air might suck, though...if they do, I totally am down for chilling at the apartment! I'll bring playing cards, too~! XD

Katie, who do you play D&D with? The guys?

And am I maybe gonna be the only person under 21 there? D:

Jael - June 26, 2008 03:32 AM (GMT)
I'll probably be able to go. And yea, the smoke is NOT fun when you have asthma(*cough cough* *wheeze wheeze*) so I'd be down for apartment fun if it comes to that.

As for the somewhat-planned meeting at Webb, that'd be cool too B)

It's the big building in the middle of campus, can't miss it :D

Shiya - June 26, 2008 06:43 PM (GMT)
The big WHITE building. :D Like, if you're in the giant grassy plain in the middle of campus (( called Kaufman Mall )) facing Hampton Blvd, just turn around. See that big white building? That's Webb!

Syaoran - June 26, 2008 11:47 PM (GMT)
Sorry, guys. Gonna go to Georgia for the Fourth most likely. But if not, then yeah, I'd like to go.

Bai Shen - June 27, 2008 10:31 PM (GMT)
So what's the verdict? Are we indoors or out?

Art1st4786 - June 28, 2008 12:48 AM (GMT)
I don't think we can make a decision until the day before. Who knows? The smoke may be gone next week (don't hold your breath--no pun intended).

Shiya - June 28, 2008 05:33 AM (GMT)
Did anyone know that Ishibashi-sensei's son is in a band? =o Yeah, me neither! But apparently he is: http://www.myspace.com/jupiterone

Ishibashi-sensei just e-mailed me to tell me that they're having a show at the Jewish Mother in VB on July 4th. Sooo, if fireworks don't work out, maybe it's something to do? (( Fyi, it's $10 at the door, $7 in advance. ))

AFAIK, there's been no plans yet.

As I understand it, there are three choices.

1. Fireworks at the park.

2. Party at the apt.

3. Concert at the Jewish Mother.

Not sure if people are doing anything during the day. And noone has decided on the above. I think the plan was to wait to see what the air quality was gonna be like.

Ecnelis - July 1, 2008 03:22 AM (GMT)
I have the fourth off, so I"m thinking, anyone want to like go to the Zoo or something that day if they're open? And then do other activities till the fourth fireworks/Liz's haunt?

Syaoran - July 2, 2008 02:05 AM (GMT)
I might just be going, but still not sure. There's too many sudden changes being made. I'll find out soon, since it's not that far off. I'll bring a cake if y'all want. :pocky:

Art1st4786 - July 2, 2008 02:58 AM (GMT)
Since the smoke has been pretty unpredictable lately, and since the smoke usually comes in at night in Norfolk, I think it'd probably be safer to do something indoors.

What is a good meeting time for everyone? We need to factor in holiday traffic and also how late everyone wants to sleep in (*coughlikemecough*).

Jael - July 2, 2008 04:01 AM (GMT)
if were meeting at webb, then any time is fine with me, i have people who can wake me up if needed B)

if were not meeting at webb, well then i need to know where to go :sweatdrop:

Whenever is good for me, although I'd prefer lunchtime at the earliest. As for meeting, I'll have to wait and see. Depending on what we end up doing, I may just meet people there since it might be closer than going to ODU first.

SinRaeyan - July 2, 2008 05:32 PM (GMT)
Here is the deal. You guys should bring something food/drinks/plates etc. It would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have any games (sorry but I must request no smash brothers)... board games are preferred. I want social games not video games really. How about 1 for the meeting time around the fountain in front of Webb? Would that work for you guys?

Wii video games are social! It's the best party console there is.

So does this mean we're only doin' the apt thing?

Oh, and I don't know where the fountain is. :sweatdrop: I should be able to find it, though. Where's the best place to park?

Keisuke - July 2, 2008 07:28 PM (GMT)
i believe the only board game i have in my house is.. Monopoly (Spiderman Style)

fightingcomet - July 2, 2008 07:50 PM (GMT)

EDIT: Oh, yeah! I'll bring two decks of cards, as well. :]

Also! If they're able, do you guys think that ordering pizza would work? Maybe everyone could bring a few bucks for it?

Shiya - July 2, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
I'm going to my uncle's for a cook out, I think, so I probably won't be able to make it depending on how long that runs. D: We'll see.
