Nekocon prereg ends September 30th, this year, so this is your advisement: if you want to be in on the ODUAC registration group, then get your $30 ready because we'll only have 3-4 meetings to collect everything before they HAVE to be sent out! The first meeting this year is, of course, September 4th.

Normally prereg is run by your neighborhood friendly Will, but I have no idea how much he'll be around this year so if he can't, I'll be running it. Either way, get your stuff organized and ready! :D

I"ll sign up for that, but are we also looking at Hotel Options now? Because I don't know how long it will take for them to get filled up.

Well, I just signed up for my group's hotel room and they still have nonsmoking quads left at the Embassy, so they haven't filled up quite yet. But I won't be staying in the ODUAC room if we do get one, and I don't want to be held responsible for a room I won't be staying in, yanno? XD So!

If one of you guys wants to reserve a room and post about it here to get more people staying in it, feel free. I mean, if all else fails you can always cancel the reservation if it doesn't work out. BUT! I can't guarantee that the club will be able to subsidize your costs, given our abysmal budget for this year. Thank the SGA! But I will be able to speak more about that when I talk to the rest of the officers, especially Chad, about our financial situation.

There's a good possibility that I'll go. Most likely no hotel, though.

Question for ya. I have a friend who wants to go but isn't an ODU student. She can still sign up as part of the ODUAC group, right?

I knew I forgot something! She absolutely can. :D The more the merrier, and all that. Just make sure that you have their registration form/money, too. And since I won't know your friends' faces, I'll just end up giving their badge to whoever gave me their registration at the con. :D

She'd probably show up with me, so giving it to me is fine.

if it is possible, yes he will be here and going to nekocon. he will be on ams again. but if things goes the way he want, he might not be here.

I have never been to this con before (mostly Katsucon and Otakon) aand I was thinking of going, how many people do we have registered so far?
And if someone is doing a hotel, please let me know...cause that might be a good thing to do and I'll be willing to help pay (duh...)

We-ell, usually there's an ODUAC room, but I'm never involved with that as I've been getting a room with my non-ODUAC friends for like, three or four years, now.

And, as far as how many people we have registered, I'll be able to give you a much better figure once semester starts. I haven't started collecting money or anything, yet. But we will definitely hit the group numbers.

Cause I was thinking to myself during all this since I might be doing a Cosplay skit, "Man, I guess I need to go start Babysitting or something so I can get all this money..."
Then lo and behold, I go to my G-ma's house to visit and she hands me this check for a thousand and I'm like "OMG! YEEESSSSS..."
So part of that can go towards books and anime stuff!! Woot for convienience! ^_^

So I was talking to my mother about doing this thing and she told me not to, since I'm a freshman and I don't know what my workload is going to be yet and if I can handle it...and I understand where she's coming from... soooo, I guess I'm going to have to pass this year and figure things out, since I also don't know if I'll end up playing soccer at ODU or even joining up ROTC... sorry though.

No worries. I've always treated Nekocon as like, my mid-semester break and usually by the middle of semester I realllly need it. But, different strokes for different folks and all that! :D

Hey, what hotel did Anime Club usually get a room in? And anyone know how many people are allowed to a room at whatever hotel it is that is right beside the convention center? (Embassy, maybe? I can't remember. It's too dang early.) Embassy Suites. THAT'S what it's called.

Also, anyone know how I can become a volunteer and what I have to do? I'm looking for it on the site, but I must just be stupid or tired because I can't find it. ><

we always need people in the gopher army. i thought you have to be a gopher first before you can be a staff at the con especially for ams.

Bah, yeah. Gophering. That's what it's called. I don't wanna try staffing for real just yet. But I'm great at doing what I'm told, and gophering sounds fun. XD

Oh, and I don't mean official things only.

For me personally, I hang with people part of the time and go on my own part of the time. But you'll see people from the club all the time when you walk the halls and go to panels and stuff. It's kinda hard to miss them. XD

Ton, I was never a gopher. Matt was never a gopher. Jeff's AMS for this coming year, and he was never a gopher. And I've gotten a couple of other people on staff by power of recommendation. If you don't know anyone who's already in AMS to recommend you then yeah, you have to gopher first because how else will they know you're reliable? But Matt + Jeff got in on the power of my recommendation, alone. 'Cause Tim's awesome and he knows that I wouldn't recommend anyone who wouldn't do the work, and also the people I recommend tend to actually stay on staff rather than disappearing between cons. >_>

Though, I've filled my recommendation quota for this year, since I already got Jeff in and AMS is surprisingly still full from last year, already. So I don't want to look like I'm stacking in people for no reason.

Anyway! ODUAC doesn't have any scheduled events, but yeah, we tend to hang out during the con just 'cause we'll meet up in hallways or panels or whatever. Personally, I hang out with them all while staffing 'cause half of them are also staff. XD

Attendee Management Services. The group that does what security does at other conventions, but we're named differently for liability reasons. Anyway, most of ODUAC that staffs does so for AMS.

I gophered. Never... Again... It took up a lot of time, but I get a free pass now! And I too want to be on AMS, but I don't know how to contact Jerry. Ton, tell him to call me and tell me what's up. That way I can know if I have to beg Jessica to recomend me or something. Also, I will probably be driving back and forth, still not sure, so I have about four extra seats in my car (family size, Hey, it's comfy). If anyone needs a ride I can assist as well.

That was my main issue with Nekocon; I wanted to stay at a hotel, but I'd rather not room alone.

So what all do we need to do for the prereg? Myself and a friend will be going. However, I'm not sure what AC meetings I'll make since I don't have any classes this semester.

$30 + completed group pre-reg form (( Typed and then printed, not handwritten!! )) per person before the last meeting of September. I bum around up at school all the time, so if you suggest a time up there that you'll be able to be there outside of the meetings there's a good chance I'll be free.
