Title: Finally.

Bai Shen - June 25, 2008 02:24 AM (GMT)
Well, I finally made it here, thanks to Fightingcomet(no thanks to Shiya, though). :)

It's late, and the ladies are distracting, so I dunno what else to say.

Ecnelis - June 25, 2008 02:31 AM (GMT)
Oh so grumpy on your first post =o

Well, I've been tryin' to get onto the forum for a couple weeks now. :(

Lessee.

Major? Comp Sci.
Minor? Nope, I'm an' old fart(at least from what I can tell of the club so far)
Anime style? Eh, I'm pretty open. Been watchin' the stuff since -thinks- god, 1990 or so. I'm not counting Voltron, Robotech, etc when I was a kid. Right now workin' my way through Bleach an' Naruto. Have a whole messload of dvd's I need to watch as well. Not a big fan of the Sailor Scouts or DBZ. Not into hentai either.

Any other questions? :)

Oh, an' I almost forgot. Firefly ROCKS! Although Book does look rather creepy in your sig. Right now I'm eagerly awaiting Dollhouse and sad that the BDM didn't rate a sequel. I was one of the few who actually saw Firefly as it was originally aired thanks to the miracle of Tivo.

Hey! You can't call me a creepy stalker man! I didn't actually call you, so :P.

And I'll post as I remember to. I just got access, so you gotta give me some time.

BTW, your sig reminds me of a sign I saw a couple days ago. It said "A conclusion is just where we get tired of thinking and decide to stop" or something like that.

Bah. You don't have to hide. :P

And amazingly enough, I've already hit the post limiter of yet another forum. Apparently I type and post too fast for most forum software. :(

Ecnelis - June 25, 2008 03:34 AM (GMT)
Eh, we prefer to have one post with all you had to say in it...or at least that's what everyone does ^.^ ONE OF US

I"m a comp sci Major myself. Going to Photography for a minor.

And I loved firefly...but Loved John Doe a lot more >.> I miss that show.

fightingcomet - June 25, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
I would like to say that I read the word "open" as "beer" and it confused me muchly. Don't ask.

And I didn't know your sig was from Firefly! :o Is that a good show? I should probably watch it sometime...

And Jess, WILL should be the one to hide- he's the one who didn't tell you about Bai's email problem! XDD

SinRaeyan - June 25, 2008 04:35 AM (GMT)
Hi Hi!!! I am not sure if I recognize you... Do I? huh huh? *head tilt*

Shiya - June 25, 2008 05:14 AM (GMT)
No, Bai's a new transfer student. And Mary, Firefly is FANTASTIC watch it watch it!!

And Bai, you didn't overcome the forum's software. XD It's a flooding failsafe. Only being able to post once every thirty seconds or so is intentionally built in to most forums so that malicious users can't spam the forum into crashing.

The forum needs to have multiquote then. Speaking of which, what is this running on? It doesn't seem to be any of the forum software I'm familiar with.

How far along are you? I'm a junior.

John Doe was okay, but no way does it compare to Firefly. Sorry, jus' not happenin'.

I never said I overcame the forum software. And I know why it's there.

It's just that I can legitimately post fast enough to run into the limit. And sometimes by posting in separate threads. :)

Yup. But I still wanted to test an actual post. Things work differently here compared to all the other forums I'm on.

So I'm an official member already? That was easy. :) When does the world domination begin?

Shiya - June 25, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I never said it'd be easy, I just said it was possible. And it might help you out with that whole running-into-the-flood-control-limit problem you've got goin' on there, since it'll take longer to make a post, now. n_n;

Also, official membership only comes with $15 per year! Membership duuues~

But you're allowed in to all of the meetings and such and such without paying dues... you just don't get a shirt/discounts/other miscellaneous membership perks.

Heh. I've still run into the limiter even when not multiposting. :)

So what bounty of perks is available to me for the paltry sum of fifteen smackers?

liltiger - June 26, 2008 05:09 AM (GMT)
hey there, welcome to the forum and i guess the club. I am last year president and will be shadow president this year helping out jessica *shiya* and the rest of the officers.

You are technically consider an offical club member when you sign up on the club roster which will be discuss at the first meeting hopefully. Right, jessica?

The $15 due basically tell us the officers that you are a paid member in which allow you to get a t-shirt, discount to our club events, and any con that the club attends. I am pretty sure that cover the basic of the due.

Correct me if i am wrong, jessica.

Shiya - June 26, 2008 08:48 AM (GMT)
Well, the constitution is screwy and abnormal and is going to be redone as a priority next semester, but what I consider it as being is that, if you sign up on the roster the university considers you a member. But, you don't get any of the perks of membership to the club unless you pay dues. So full membership = roster + paid dues, to me. Not that I hold non-paid members in any lesser regard, buuut...

If there's ever going to be an AC-run world domination scheme, you can only be an officer of our army of glory-- a position that leads to a cushy, well-paid government job after the completion of the conquest-- if you've paid your dues!

Bai Shen - June 26, 2008 01:19 PM (GMT)
Still kinda confused. What club activities do I get a discount on? Can you list some examples?

Ryto - June 26, 2008 04:54 PM (GMT)
I'm a little late, but welcome to the forums!

Also, when you are a dues-paying member, you get to do pretty much everything the club would charge normal students for for free. (Like the lock-ins, and if we do another mini-con or whatever you wanna call it)

DISCLAIMER: The information in this post may or may not be up to date. Please do not be surprised if it is completely wrong. Wait until the first meeting to get the real info.

liltiger - June 26, 2008 07:07 PM (GMT)
i think it is best if we answer any questions regarding dues and what you get from it during the first meeting to avoid any misleading info. from members and officers.

Ryto - June 26, 2008 07:08 PM (GMT)
Well of course. I was just giving the info I knew....I guess I'll put a disclaimer in that post...

Syaoran - June 26, 2008 11:27 PM (GMT)
Hey, welcome to the black par..cough.. forums!

Bai Shen - June 27, 2008 01:39 AM (GMT)
Hmm. I seem to be the oldest and least into anime here. :(

Shiya - June 27, 2008 02:24 AM (GMT)
Given that you say that you're currently watching Naruto and Bleach, I disagree. XD I've watched two episodes of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and a couple of Potamayo and that's about all of the anime I've watched in the past, oh, one or two years. n_n;; I just like running things, and identify more with the anime crowd than with any other group.

Buuuut you've almost definitely got the oldest thing in the bag, if that makes you feel... uh... better?

I guess.

I mean, I like to watch anime, but I've never been big into cons, cosplay, etc(my brain is failing me).

Shiya - June 27, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
Cons and cosplay and such and such are anime culture, not so much anime itself.

Though that's just my opinion, so don't mind me. XD I mean, I recognize myself as being into anime, but not really into actual anime. It's odd. And mostly born out of a lack of time and a troubling inability to sit still long enough to watch anime, anymore.

Just kidding. I just like the stories that Japan comes up with. It's better than tv in America, that's for sure. (Except Progect Runway and Top Chef)

Okay, you've just destroyed any credibility you had. Reality TV is evil. It's what's killing all the good tv. To the exec's way of thinking, why bother spending a bunch of money creating a good, quality show, when they can just churn out reality crap for a 100th of the cost and just as many people will watch it.

Shiya - June 28, 2008 04:30 PM (GMT)
Actually, I also love the Bravo reality serieses. Why? Because they ARE good, quality shows. Just because it's reality, doesn't make it crap.

Okay, so only 90% of reality tv is crap. :)

Syaoran - July 2, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
Of course reality TV shows are what's killing American TV. That's why I only watch Emmy Award winning reality shows. I would watch Smallville, House, or Heroes, but I've missed too much as it is. I'd be waaaayyyyy lost if I started watching those again. I'm just gonna get the dvd boxes.

I'm going to assume you're not being sarcastic.

As for being way lost on shows, that's actually a common problem, unfortunately. That's why a lot of episodic shows are written with interchangable episodes. That way they can air them in any order, and if a viewer shows up late, no big deal, since everything reverts back to the same at the end of each episode.

Good tv with character development is it's own worst enemy. It's expensive, and if people don't catch it from the beginning, it's very hard to get into.

Consider Farscape vs Star Trek(lets go with TNG for this example). Say you watched the first season of ST and then didn't catch any until the last season. No big deal. The characters haven't really changed, and it's your standard plot. So you're not lost. However, anyone that did that with Farscape would be completely lost. The characters from the beginning of the show were completely different from the end.

Syaoran - July 4, 2008 01:10 AM (GMT)
See, that's just the type of show I really don't like, though. I like something that has a development where you ahve to see each episode in order or else you're lost. Like Nikelodian shows (mostly) or Disney or, ya know, american caartoon shows for the most part (emphasis on the most part, not saying all. I like me some Avatar). Good example, CatDog. I despise that show with every fibre of my being. But that's just my opinion. I just like shows with constant plot. (I couldn't usually get into Star Trek, but that's probably because my parents love it so much)
