So I found out that none of my original group that was planning on going to Otakon is no longer going. One for a musical he's in, others just chickened out. Now I am left in a predicament. I have a room yet at the same time I do not. The musical guy reserved a hotel room way back and it's only a few blocks from the convention center. The rate is around $250/night. I can't quite remember but it's somewhere around there. Here's what I'd rather do. If anyone who is going already has a room, would you mind an extra person in there? the only reason I would keep this room is if I get 4 other people to room with me, to bring the cost per person down considerably. If that happens then that's fine. The thing is I already bought my ticket and really don't want to back down.

Is anybody going to Otakon?

I want to but have no ride and no promise of money either, I am just stalking this panel looking to see the offers.

Giving rides is easy. It's the paying for hotel that's the situation.

If anybody is going, can you spare another person in the room? I don't take up much space, only shower time. Wake up early kiddies.

Also if anybody wasn't sure of going because of hotels being full, I still have that room option available. I just need to contact my friend soon to let him know to either switch it to in my name or drop it.

A room would be great, although if someone were to allow me to share a room, they'd probably have to put up with my little brother too....

He's a lot like me, only younger, taller, heavier (maybe), and more annoying...

You knowI would probably be in the same boat, if I go my brother would force me to take him so that may be 2 people to pay for the room, again no guarantees but just something to consider.

i actually just had the group i was planning on rooming with drop me bc they were too full so this could work for me...except that its a bit expensive if its just the 2 of us. if, as you said, we get at least three more people i should be good.

actually with both ryto, mita and theyre siblings we would have 6 people. 250/6=41.66 a night. i should be good with that.

am i to assume that the total quiet over the the last 24 hrs is an acceptance by all six parties and that no one else is interested...?

I may have to hammer out some details to actually go, like I said it was a wait and see, so I have about a 40% chance of going so I am sorry if me and my brother have to cancel, and it may come down to me having to pay my part of the hotel room a month or two later to not even going, I'll try to get, but not sure I can, and my brother has about a 33% chance of going too.

Just an FYI, you pay for the hotel room once you check out of the room. I hope you are able to make it.

and remember, you can easily fit 12 people into a 2 bed hotelroom. i didnt say comfortably, but you can fit them.

So, let me get this straight. There IS in fact a room that someone has that we could stay in? It's not just a hypothetical/whatever room, is it? Cause if it's already all taken care of, then unless something comes up, we should be able to make it to stay in the room.

Edit: Although it would be better if we maybe got a few more people....I just realized that price may be a little high if it's for me AND my brother....

Maybe we could bother our grandparents to let us stay at their place, since it's only 40 something minutes away....

EDIT AGAIN: Okay, I talked to my mom, and she said that it would be fine with her if we were to pay that price, and that, like I figured, it wouldn't be a good idea to ask my grandparents to let us stay there. Now I just need to see if my dad thinks it's okay. (yes, my parents ARE going to pay for both of us, cause they're cool like that).

Well if I read this right you are jumping from the room then I can't make it, the money is going to be tight for me and my brother and if we lose people I will have to leave.
Although if we all could bunk at your grandparents...

Sorry Everyone, I waited long enough but no definite answer came from everyone that I needed. I have taken up an offer with someone else to room with them.

wow, didnt expect the "answers soon" to take one day. i just found out today that i can go, but i guess that now im not going.

this makes the second room i failed to get into.

Well I started asking about 2 weeks ago and it took forever to get responses. This was a time sensitive issue because my friend wanted answers quick.
