For my job, I answer phones for technical support. While at work today, my thought bunnies began hopping around the idea that the internet could be compared with the animal kingdom to a certain degree.
For example, the people who are mostly computer illiterate would be like small woodland animals; the only way they can stay safe is to stay hidden, mostly avoiding places where danger might occur.
Conversely, the hackers and what have you would be the predators, "feeding" on weaker animals in oredr to stay alive. The better the hacker, the more dangerous a predator s/he would be.
People who are computer literate would be like herd animals, in that they can take care fo themselves better than the those with no skill, but they are safest in large numbers where they can ask each other for help.
IT specialists would be the large herbivores, like rhinos and elephants and such, in that they can often help smaller animals and are less targetted by predators, normally working in small groups or units.
Finally, there are the n00bs, which are the animals no one likes, like hyenas. They think they are big time predators, but they are mostly just scavangers that would not survive without other predators or general misfortune affecting other people.
For me, I think I'd qualify as some type of bird of prey, in that I know some hacking skills and certainly enough to keep me safe (most of the time). Also, hawks and such often help out other animals by keeping the rodent population down, which reduces the risks of virus epidemics, etc. I don't know, it seems to fit.
Anyways, discuss. What would you all consider yourselves?
im a platapus
deal with it.
We already have a furry page. >.>
Um, I guess that would make me god. Since I"m a computer science major and I will be developing software and what not. So are computer engineers.
We just have a varying degree of good/evil godliness.
MUAHAHA I"M A GOD. (avoids ye olde lightning from first testament)
Lets just say I'd have a 3 day weekend instead of one day of rest.
I'd be a cat, probably. I know how to do stuff with computers, but I'm too much of a lazy bum to do a lot of it.
EDIT: I hate the censor. D:
