So earlier this summer I ended up getting a PS3. It's pretty great. One of the interesting things to happen over the summer was the opening of the Playstation Network's (PSN- PS3 version of Xbox Live!) video download service. One of the things this service had at launch was episode one of BONES' new anime
Xam'd: Lost Memories (
Bounen no Xamdou in Japan). BONES is responsible for anime such as
Eureka SeveN, Fullmetal Alchemist, Wolf's Rain, Ouran Highschool Host Club, Scrapped Princess (which we watched in club last semester) and many more well known, and well recieved, anime. For whatever reason, this anime is being released exclusively on PSN with a regular weekly release in both SD and HD formats, feautring subtitles from (I assume) Sony themselves. It will be interesting to see how well it does considering it's circumstances; supposedly it is one of the most watched things on the PSN video service. However, I doubt it will get the viewership it would have gotten from a regular TV broadcast. I am curious whether in the end they will consider it a success or not. Perhaps Sony is helping fund production.
As for the anime itself, it's not bad! It feels like a mix between
Eureka SeveN and
Last Exile. The colors are vibrant and the animation is excellent. The first couple of episodes don't really do a whole lot of explanation, but they were still pretty good. It feels like it has a lot of potential, and is off to a good start. The
opening also nice.
Has anyone else seen this?
Alternative topic: The PS3 is pretty sweet. Anyone else have one?
