Title: Publicity is GO!
Description: ideas, anyone?
fightingcomet - August 19, 2008 04:28 PM (GMT)
John told me to make a thread here months ago. Here's the thread I promised, love~! =D
So, in order for people to actually join the club and come to events, we need to put ourselves out there. And that means we need IDEAS!!! So, gimme yours! :3
Also, for past publicity heads, (COUGHJOHNCOUGH) please post some things you've done in the past, whether they worked well or not. >3<
So far, I have:- word of mouth (This is a BIG ONE!!! This can make someone decide to join or not!)
- Cosplay & hand out flyers
- just plain hand out flyers
- Posters in major hangout/walking areas
etc, etc.
I'd list and say more, but I now actually have a lot of work to do, so. D:
IDEAS ARE AWESOME!!!

I like the cosplay + hand out flyers idea :3 Well... It might scare off some people. But then again, if cosplay scares them off and draws others then maybe that's serves to draw anime fans anyway >.> HOORAY! SELF DEFEATING THOUGHTS FROM KRAT! =D
But ya, I like the cosplay and flyer idea :3 -will so volunteer for that-

What we did for Mainstreet last year is we actually had some people cosplay and hand out flyers. We did that for the Geek Auction as well. Sandwich boards work well, too, for our other events (not a good idea for Mainstreet and Spring Organization fair).
Also, this is something we've failed to get around to in the past, but try to take advantage of the student announcements, Facebook groups, and the Mace & Crown.
When putting up posters and flyers, try to get some in the dorms, as well. The policy changes every year, so check with Barbara or someone else at the information desk where it's okay to post flyers and posters in the dorms.
Feel free to ask me, John, or any of the past officers if you have more questions.

Yep, I'm free to be asked questions or help. I have been reading, but have been worrying about personal affairs too much to think over publicity ideas at the moment.
Don't forget forget you can request time to do Chalk Advertisements, and I believe it is only once a semester we can reserve a slot in one of the Display cases. That is if they still have the display cases. So use that wisely, we usually use it for one of our major events.

I'm on Facebook almost every day, so I'll be advertising the club's events there.
Right now, I have an event posted about the first meeting.
Invite lots of people! =D

I've talked to a few people in the art building today about Anime club. One or two of them might be in attendance on the 4th of September. Word of mouth is good.

What about something for Halloween this year since it's on a Friday this year. We could cosplay and hand out cheap candy like :pocky: or something.

Aw man, it's on a Friday? And I love Halloween....

I have always liked the idea of designing a flyer that is split vertically in half (and designed to be split so.) Then attaching each half to the inner doors of an elevator so as you wait for your floor to come up you have an ad that assembles itself in front of you. You kindof have to look unless you're blind, I mean, the elevator doors just started talking to you :P
