Title: How about we do a Game Marathon for a weekend?

mitamaking - August 20, 2008 02:12 AM (GMT)
In the past few months weekend long group of players playing video games and collecting donations has gotten popular. This previous weekend I was watching one by a group of gamers playing all the Metroid games and collecting for St. Jude. My question is why don't we try to put one together by March for Relay for Life.

We would need a web camera and the games at the least, and maybe a few better things but I am just trying to get the idea out there.
Would anyone else be interested to do it?

So this is pretty much an all day/night event playing a particular series of games? And why would we need a webcam?

Wow, this sounds really fun! I'd love to do it. =) I see it takes alot of web-planning, and I'm really good at stuff like that, so I'd love to help with working on the site ^^ As far as the feeds, I'm not very literate at that so...That video capture stuff confused me. x_X But ya, I think its a great idea, and I'm all for it.

Sounds cool

I'd join in. If we could really get it rolling, we could try to get it on the news. WVEC sponsors Relay for Life, right?

1.The webcam would be to air it over the net so we have people who would donate to our cause.
2.Game marathons are varying times where you play a game straight, for example to test our equipment and advertise the big one, I would love to do about a 12 hour Star Fox one. Most normal ones are 48-72 hours and a long game series, example the 7 Zeldas, 7 Metroid, or stuff like that.

Like I said we would need alot of equipment and a house but it seems fun.

that'd be awesome...we could do the DW SW series....there are plenty of games to play :) :ph43r:

Instead of doing one series, why not let the audience vote on a group of choices. It'd be better than sticking with one series that everyone might not like.

One series keeps a theme and makes the marathon seem at least abit orderly, and to get donations we will have to look at least somewhat competent.

What is DW SW?

But user interaction would get more viewers, and therefore more mouth-to-mouth publicity.

DW SW is Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors

Oh wow there are alot(and there all the same, oh burn :P) of SW and SW games I don't know, the ones that are just random games never seem as well ran and just seem to be frat parties than people getting together for charaties, I don't know we should talk this out, March or whenever is so far away.

I still want to do Star Fox to test everything and advertise since it is a short series and everything but the big one we need to make sure is well set up.

BUMP

So whoever is interested say it here and we will set up a meeting sometime.

mitamaking - November 19, 2008 05:31 AM (GMT)
Anyone still interested?

Just seems this discussion died, I would like to bring it back.

tim_pkmn89 - November 19, 2008 05:22 PM (GMT)
I'm always interested

EDIT: And I still think we could do better with a vote-on-the-next-game method. So what if we won't be on that one site? I don't think that would compare to a few Digg and 4chan postings...
